Sneaker Creases: Sådan fjerner du dem - Sneakerzone

There is just something really special about a pair of Jordan 1 or Nike Dunk sneakers that look completely clean! And we all know the feeling of not being able to wait to wear the newest pair, and they might even be pulled out for most occasions because you love them so much.

And the longer you can keep them looking like they just came out of the box, the better! No marks, no creases – there’s just a special feeling with brand new sneakers!

All shoes get dirty over time; they’re on your feet, so it’s hard to avoid. They will start to look used, and you will get creases at some point, but luckily there’s something you can do about it! Follow our advice further down the page!

Sneaker Creases: How to avoid them as long as possible

Even if you don’t like how a sneaker crease looks, it’s completely normal. The material the shoe is made of will bend as your foot does when you walk. So it will happen over time.

But there are some things you can do to delay their appearance as long as possible.

You can use Sneaker Shields! Sneaker Shields preserve the shoe’s natural fit and protect against creases. A sneaker shield is made of soft plastic, ensuring your shoes keep a comfortable fit – without creases! You place the Sneaker Shield as far forward in the shoe as possible; this gives the best effect!

You can buy shoes that fit perfectly. By buying shoes that fit exactly as they should, there’s less risk of getting sneaker creases. A shoe that’s too big has more space between shoe and foot, which can bend and move, leading to more creases.

Next, make sure the shoe is made of quality materials. Quality really matters when it comes to shoes. If the shoes are made of cheap material, there’s a higher chance you’ll get creases faster.

If your perfectly fitting shoe made of high-quality materials gets a bend or crease, the best thing you can do is add some heat to the area. This can make the crease disappear on its own.

Use a shoe tree in the shoe when you’re not wearing it. It keeps the shoe packed and filled out so it doesn’t collapse.

Get rid of sneaker creases: What you need

You don’t need many things to get rid of creases. Most of what you need you probably have at home, but if not, you can easily buy or borrow it from a friend.

Tools:

  • A newspaper
  • Some shoe polish or shoe cream

Equipment:

  • An iron
  • A dish towel
  • A hairdryer
  • A shoe tree

Sneaker Crease: How to use heat

  1. Here you’ll need your iron, dish towel, and newspaper

This trick is one of the most popular for removing sneaker creases. First, you need to pack the shoe so it keeps its shape – almost like there’s a foot inside. You can do this by stuffing the shoe with newspaper – from toe to heel – as much as you can. This alone will also help the creases unfold a bit.

  • Once you’ve packed the shoe, grab an iron
  • and a damp dish towel.
  • Put the damp dish towel over the crease, and it’s okay if your towel folds.
  • Then turn your iron on to a low temperature between 15 and 30 degrees.
  • Iron over the dish towel where the crease is for 10 seconds at a time.
  • Check the crease occasionally by removing the towel so you don’t risk burning your shoes.
  • When the crease is gone, stop using the iron.
  • Leave all the newspaper inside the shoe so it keeps its shape.
  • Let the shoe cool completely.

The combination of heat and water helps stretch the material so the crease can disappear. The dish towel also helps so you don’t burn or damage the shoe.

This trick works best on leather shoes, but you can also use it on suede; however, you should be careful with the water using this method. Suede doesn’t like water. So wring the dish towel as much as possible.

  1. Hairdryer and shoe tree - shoe cream or shoe polish is important

If you don’t have an iron, you can easily use a hairdryer, but this works best if your shoes are made of leather. To keep the shape, you need to use a shoe tree; it holds the shape best and doesn’t get hot.

  • Use the lowest heat setting on the hairdryer.
  • Hold the hairdryer about 30 centimeters away from the shoe.
  • Then run the hairdryer over the shoe several times.
  • After that, put the shoe down and set the hairdryer aside.
  • Use your finger to rub the leather upward against the shoe tree.
  • Repeat this process until the crease is gone.

With this method, be aware that the shoe tree stays in the same position as the shoe cools down.

It’s a good idea to use shoe polish or shoe cream when the shoe has cooled down. You should, as the heat can dry out the leather. And shoe cream or shoe polish helps with that.
